FAQ
Below are Frequently Asked Questions for assisting you with Robocharge.

Q.  On AuthorizeNet, I do not want to charge the customers credit card until we actually ship the product.  The amount when shipped may be different.  What transaction sequence should be performed?  When do I need the transaction ID and when do I need the auth code?

A. You use transaction id for VOID or PRIOR_AUTH_CAPTURE transactions.

You only need Auth_Code for CAPTURE_ONLY transactions.

Here is the summary of what you should do:

Original amount AUTH_ONLY (i.e. $100) (save trans id and auth code) This reserves $100 on customers credit card.

When you ship:

If amount = original amount: (i.e. $100)
PRIOR_AUTH_CAPTURE passing transaction ID

if amount > original amount: (i.e. $150)
PRIOR_AUTH_CAPTURE passing transaction ID
AUTH_CAPTURE $50 with credit card # and exp-date

or

VOID original passing transaction ID
AUTH_CAPTURE $150 with credit card # and exp-date

If amount < original amount (i.e. $75)
VOID original passing transaction ID
CAPTURE_ONLY passing credit card #, exp-date, amount, Auth_code

Q.  How does the RoboCharge license file work?

A.  A complete description can be found by clicking here.

Q.  How can I get a credit card merchant account that works with RoboCharge?

A.  You can sign up online by clicking here.  This gives you a merchant account through Northern Trust bank and an account on the SurePay gateway.  You can also use this merchant account with AuthorizeNet for an extra charge.

Q.  I already have a merchant account - how can I get an AuthorizeNet Account?

A.  In some cases, it is not possible.  Learn how to determine if it can be done by clicking here.  If this won't work, you can also apply for a new merchant account.

Q. Can I convert my SurePay account to an AuthorizeNet account?

A.  Yes.  Contact us and we can help you do that.  Note that it will cost you $15 per month more and there may be a $99 setup fee.  Any transactions over 250 will cost a nickel.

Q. Can I convert my AuthorizeNet account to a SurePay account?

A.  No.  You will have to set up a new merchant account to do this.  It may be cheaper in the long run.  SurePay has some very attractive rates.
